Florida State and Virginia Tech will play for the ACC softball tournament title on May 9, with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m. ET at Palmer Park in Charlottesville. The winner will also earn an automatic berth in the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament.
Florida State reached the championship game by run-ruling Stanford 9-0 in five innings, while Virginia Tech advanced with a 5-0 victory over Duke. The Seminoles, ranked No. 10, are chasing their first conference tournament title since 2023. Virginia Tech, ranked No. 17, is trying to give head coach Pete D'Amour his first conference title with the Hokies.
D'Amour knows the feeling of getting it done in a league title game. He won his first conference championship with Kennesaw State in the Atlantic Sun title game in 2018, and now has another chance to add one with Virginia Tech.
The game also carries a layer of familiarity in a season where the teams have not yet met. Florida State and Virginia Tech will be playing each other for the first time this year, and the national stage should only sharpen what is already at stake. The ACC championship game will air on, with streaming available through the app and Fubo.
Florida State has already shown the kind of sharp edge that can decide a tournament, and Virginia Tech answered with a shutout of its own. One team will leave Charlottesville with a trophy. The other will leave with the larger question of how far a strong week can carry into the NCAA bracket.
