Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing did not produce a jackpot winner, but one Southern California ticket still delivered a $75,723 payday after matching four numbers plus the Mega Ball. The ticket, which included a 3X multiplier, was sold at Hawaii Super Market at 120 E. Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel.
The winner’s payout comes as the game continues to churn out smaller prizes while the grand prize climbs. In the Jan. 23 drawing, William Hawkins won more than $1.2 million after matching five numbers and missing only the Mega Ball, and he did it with a ticket bought at the ARCO station at 280 W. Nuevo Road in Perris; that ticket also carried a 3X multiplier.
Two other Californians also picked up $1 million prizes playing Power 10s Scratchers. Ronald Franz won his million with a ticket purchased from Rosewood’s Restaurant in Cerritos, while Margaret Davs collected hers with a game bought at Hillcrest Liquor & Food in Antioch.
The pattern is familiar in a state where the ca lottery feeds both lottery fever and school funding. Money raised by California Lottery games goes to public schools across the state, helping provide classrooms with technology and students with hands-on learning materials.
Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing is set for 8 p.m., and ticket sales close at 7:45 p.m. The jackpot is listed at $215 million, giving players one more shot before the window shuts and the next drawing resets the chase.
For now, the answer is simple: the big prize rolled over, but California still produced a string of winners large and small.
