Jalen Reagor Tryout Browns: Former first-rounder gets another NFL look in Cleveland

Cleveland opened rookie minicamp on Friday, and was there on a tryout basis as he tries to get back into the NFL. The former first-round pick spent the weekend working in front of the Browns after years of bouncing around the league.

Reagor entered the NFL as the Philadelphia Eagles' 21st overall pick in 2020 out of TCU, but his career has been defined more by stops than staying power. He played two seasons in Philadelphia, starting 24 of 28 games and finishing with 64 receptions for 695 yards and three touchdowns. Since then, he has not settled into one place for long. He spent the last two years on and off the Chargers' practice squad, with his only game action for Los Angeles coming in 2024, when he caught seven passes for 100 yards. Before that, he started one game in 11 appearances for the Patriots in 2023 and had 11 catches for 138 yards.

The stretch before that was his most productive outside Philadelphia. In 2022, Reagor played in 17 games for the Minnesota Vikings, caught eight passes for 104 yards and scored his last touchdown as a pro. That track record is part of the backdrop for this Browns look, but Cleveland has its own reasons to keep the door open. The team used two of its top three draft picks on wide receivers and , and its receiver room is coming off a 2025 season in which no wideout caught more than two touchdowns.

There is also a familiar face in the building. is the Browns running backs coach, and he was on the Eagles' staff in 2020 as running backs coach and assistant head coach when Philadelphia took Reagor in the first round. That overlap does not guarantee anything, but it does give Reagor a chance to be evaluated by someone who was there when his career began. For Reagor, this is another shot at proving the league has not seen the last of him.
