Omaha Weather: Snow Advisory Late Monday Before Warm-Up Melts It Fast

By James Carter Apr 7, 2026

Accumulating snow is increasingly likely for parts of eastern Nebraska overnight Monday into Tuesday morning, with the heaviest snow expected north and northeast of Lincoln. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 10 p.m. Monday through 1 a.m. Tuesday, and 1-3 inches of snow, if not more, could fall in the hardest-hit area.

Travelers heading overnight or Tuesday morning toward Omaha should stay weather aware and monitor conditions closely. The snow is expected to be heavy and wet, but activity should taper off by Tuesday morning.

The timing matters because temperatures are set to climb fast after daybreak. Afternoon highs Tuesday will reach the 40s, 50s and 60s, and any snow accumulation is expected to melt quickly by Tuesday afternoon.

The brief burst of winter weather is part of a broader unsettled pattern that will hold over eastern Nebraska for the next 7 days, with precipitation chances every day. The best odds for showers and storms come Thursday through the weekend, while Wednesday carries a marginal risk for isolated severe storms capable of producing large hail and gusty winds in southern areas.

Even with the midweek storm threat, temperatures are expected to stay mild through the week, generally in the 60s and 70s, with the warmest readings arriving at the tail end of the forecast period. For now, the practical answer for Omaha weather is simple: watch the roads late Monday, because the snow should not last long once Tuesday’s warmth takes over.
