The Indiana Fever waived Megan McConnell, Jessica Timmons and Kayana Traylor on May 6, cutting their roster to 13 players with the WNBA regular season set to begin May 8, 2026.
The moves leave the Fever with a final round of decisions still possible before the league's opening game, since teams have up to 48 hours to make a waiver claim if they believe there is a fit. If no club claims a player, that player reaches unrestricted free agency and can sign with any organization.
McConnell, who signed a training camp contract, brought a recent pro résumé that included one game for the Phoenix Mercury in 2025. She played 13 minutes before a season-ending tibial plateau fracture ended that stint, then went scoreless in preseason after averaging 11.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 points per game with the Bendigo Spirit.
Timmons arrived through last month's rookie draft, where Indiana used the 40th overall selection on the Alabama guard. She averaged 16.3 points per game in her final collegiate season and scored 16 points across three preseason games. Traylor, a non-guaranteed training camp signing, was the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft and played eight games for the Minnesota Lynx that year before later spending time professionally in France and Israel. She produced 22 points, two assists and one rebound across three preseason games.
The Fever also moved 2026 draft pick Justine Pissott to a developmental pool spot as they kept narrowing the group around Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. The roster math is unforgiving. Under the collective bargaining agreement, teams must get down to the WNBA maximum of 12 players, and Indiana is now one step away from that deadline-driven cutoff.
For McConnell, Timmons and Traylor, the next 48 hours will determine whether they are claimed, stay in the league's waiver pipeline or become available to any team at all. For the Fever, the hard part is nearly over. The opening night roster is close to set, and the season starts Friday.
