Tigres beat Nashville SC 1-0 in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup 2026 semifinal at GEODIS Park, with Ángel Correa scoring the only goal in the first meeting between the clubs.
The return leg is set for Tuesday, May 5, at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, with kickoff listed for 18:30 h ET and 19:30 h in Mexico. Nashville can still make the tie uncomfortable if it scores more than two goals in Monterrey, but Tigres will take a narrow advantage home after the opening match.
Guido Pizarro said Tigres managed the game better with and without the ball and created chances in Nashville. He also said the rival’s posture will be different in the second leg and that the match will be difficult, though he believes his side can reach the next round if it keeps its individual and collective level high in front of its own supporters.
For Tigres, Correa is already shaping the tie. Pizarro called the forward decisive, the team’s banner, and said the squad is helping make him more comfortable and more dangerous as the semifinal moves to Monterrey. Nashville, meanwhile, arrives with a reputation for upsetting bigger names after surprising América in the quarterfinals, which is part of why the second leg carries real weight despite the 1-0 scoreline.
The matchup remains the first-ever meeting between Tigres and Nashville SC, and the away-goal criterion gave Tigres an important edge in the opener. That makes Tuesday’s return leg less about survival than control: Tigres can advance with discipline, but Nashville has already shown it can upset the script once and will be looking to do it again.
