Matthew and Thy Mitchell identified in River Oaks tragedy tied to Traveler's Table

Matthew and , the owners of , were found dead Monday evening in an apparent murder-suicide scene in River Oaks after a welfare check call, Houston police said.

The Mitchells were identified by police as the family in the case, which also involved their two children, ages 8 and 4. Their names were not released. The called , 52, the suspect.

A babysitter and a family member had reported not hearing from the Mitchells on Monday, prompting concern before the couple and their children were discovered dead. Neighbors at the scene told they noticed irregularities that day before the home was uncovered.

The case drew attention beyond the neighborhood because the Mitchells were also known as owners of Traveler's Table, a hospitality group connection that put their names in the public eye. Police said they believe the incident was isolated to the Mitchell family.

Houston police asked anyone with additional information to contact the department’s homicide division. For now, investigators are treating the deaths as a closed circle inside one household, with no indication of a broader threat to River Oaks or the wider city.
