Voters across Tarrant County went to the polls Saturday and kept several incumbents in place in Fort Worth-area school board races, including contests in Crowley, Castleberry and White Settlement.
In Crowley ISD, Daryl Davis II won the three-candidate race with 44.42% of the vote, topping appointed incumbent Michael Laszek, who got 33.49%, and Jacqueline Upshaw, who received 22.09%. The seat was left vacant when Mia Hall was elected to the Fort Worth City Council, turning the race into a special election for the unexpired portion of her term.
Davis is a former Crowley ISD board president who chose not to seek reelection in 2025 so he could run for Fort Worth City Council. He also works as vice president and pastor at Inspiring Temple of Praise Church in Fort Worth’s Eastland neighborhood and as vice president of workforce and development for UpSpire. Laszek, who joined the board in October, tried to keep the seat he had been appointed to and campaigned as a parent of three students in the district and an independent quality assurance consultant.
Elsewhere, incumbent Tracy Gallman won the Castleberry ISD race with 67.1% of the vote, defeating Sydney Claridge, who received 32.9%. Gallman is a longtime River Oaks resident and former board vice president.
In White Settlement ISD, incumbent Krystal Arnold defeated trustee John Bradley, 66.7% to 33.3%, in the Place 6 race. Bradley’s move to run for Place 6 opened his current Place 7 seat, which Briley Hicks won over Michael Gutierrez, 56.77% to 42.23%. Gutierrez works in water treatment, while Hicks is a sales director and a parent in the district.
The unofficial election results were updated at 1:15 a.m. May 3, with incumbents winning multiple races across the Fort Worth area as the broader election day also included city races, bond proposals and charter amendments. For now, the clearest takeaway is that voters chose continuity in most of these school board contests.
