won the Miami Grand Prix Sprint on Saturday at the Miami International Autodrome, leading from pole position and never giving the field a chance to catch him over 19 laps. He converted his advantage into the first corner and finished ahead of and .

The driver’s victory came after he had taken pole in Sprint Qualifying on Friday, with and Piastri behind him on the grid. On Saturday afternoon, McLaren returned to winning ways at the Miami International Autodrome, and Norris made sure the result was settled almost as soon as the lights went out.

Piastri held second and Leclerc took third, while Antonelli slipped from second to fourth off the line. , who started sixth, traded places with Antonelli a couple of times during the Sprint before crossing the line in sixth and then losing another place after the chequered flag because of a track limits violation. Max Verstappen had been sixth at the finish before the penalty changed the classification, and Lewis Hamilton was close behind him in a battle that kept the midfield from settling down.

The rest of the points went to Pierre Gasly in eighth for , Isack Hadjar in ninth and Franco Colapinto in 10th. Gabriel Bortoleto was 11th, while Esteban Ocon finished ahead of Ollie Bearman in the Haas pair’s result. Carlos Sainz took 14th, Liam Lawson 15th and Fernando Alonso 16th after starting on soft tyres. Sergio Perez finished 17th for Cadillac, Lance Stroll was 18th after also starting on soft tyres, Alex Albon dropped to 19th after a late front wing change and Valtteri Bottas came home 20th for Cadillac. Arvid Lindblad had been due to start from the pit lane but never made it onto the track after mechanics breached the regulations by working on his car beyond the covers-on time, while Nico Hulkenberg’s car caught fire on the way to the grid.

The Sprint also marked a sharp turn from Friday, when ’ dominant start to the 2026 campaign was halted in Sprint Qualifying. Norris had put McLaren back on top there, and the team turned that pace into a clean win once the racing began. For Norris, the result was the simple one drivers always want on a sprint weekend: get the front, keep the lead and leave the rest to fight over what was left.

McLaren now carries that momentum into the main Grand Prix weekend, with the Sprint in Miami showing that the team’s speed at the front is back in play after the extended five-week break. If the rest of the weekend follows the same pattern, the fight may be less about whether Norris can lead and more about whether anyone can stay close enough to challenge him.
