Paris Saint-Germain host FC Lorient at the Parc des Princes on Saturday with one eye already on Wednesday. Luis Enrique’s team go into psg vs lorient six points clear at the top of Ligue 1, but the league fixture comes only days after a dramatic nine-goal Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich.
That alone would have forced PSG to think carefully about minutes. Achraf Hakimi’s hamstring tear, suffered against Bayern, makes the calculation sharper. He is ruled out of both Lorient’s visit and the return in Germany, and Warren Zaire-Emery looks the likeliest option to fill the gap on the right side.
PSG have little domestic pressure in the short term, which is why the focus has shifted so quickly to the Champions League. Their lead gives them room to manage the squad, and Saturday’s match arrives with the second leg against Bayern looming as the priority. Enrique is expected to rest or rotate key players where possible, though the absence of Hakimi removes one of the more obvious places to compromise.
Lorient bring a more uneven recent record. They have won just three of their last 12 matches in all competitions, with five defeats, four draws and three victories across that run. Their unbeaten stretch of eight wins and four draws between December and January ended in early February, and they have collected seven points from a possible 18 in their last six league matches. They are also winless in their last five away league games, even if they have shown they can trouble PSG; the reverse fixture ended 1-1 after Igor Silva answered Nuno Mendes’s opener.
There is still a route for Lorient to finish the season on a respectable note, but not much more than that. Even if they win their remaining fixtures, they cannot climb higher than eighth. Their away numbers offer one small caveat: in 2026, they have a perfect record when scoring first, though they have done that only twice. For PSG, the question is less about the table than the timing. Saturday is a league match, but it also sits inside a Champions League week that could shape the rest of their season.
