Alec Bohm parents seek dismissal as finance fight deepens in court

Daniel and moved last week to dismiss ’s lawsuit, pushing back against a request for a preliminary injunction that would force them to return more than $500,000 as the family’s fight over his finances spilled deeper into court.

Alec Bohm has said his parents took money from him to pay legal expenses, while his parents say the dispute has been blown out of proportion. The case centers on the financial affairs of the third baseman and on who controlled accounts tied to his money and assets.

said his son first questioned him about the finances in October, in a conversation that lasted for hours. He said Alec Bohm repeatedly stepped away to take phone calls and appeared to have been asked to collect and report information to someone else. In January, the parents said they received a letter from Alec Bohm’s attorneys seeking an extensive list of financial records and organizational documents.

A separate filing said Alec Bohm’s attorneys instructed his parents in February to leave his Florida condominium. Court records list the condominium as the address for both Alec Bohm and his parents. The parents said they had been living in a recreational vehicle after leaving the unit, using it to travel to his baseball games around the country, and said that as of last week they still had not had time to find new permanent housing.

The dispute has also turned on routine expenses. According to his parents, Alec Bohm withdrew funds in early March from a number of banking and investment accounts associated with the LLCs, disrupting payments for condominium fees, rent for an apartment in New Jersey and rental insurance. Daniel Bohm said some bills were still in Lisa Bohm’s name, including an electric bill for the New Jersey apartment and a security bill for Alec Bohm’s Texas property, and said reimbursement for those costs typically came from the LLC accounts.

Earlier court documents indicated that Daniel and Lisa Bohm had overseen Alec Bohm’s finances since 2019 through a series of LLCs, with money and assets held in those entities. The parents also said they transferred $528,618 from a money market account held in one LLC’s name to their attorney’s trust account, underscoring how far the dispute has moved from private family accounting into a formal legal fight over control, records and repayment.

For now, the parents are asking the court to throw out the lawsuit and reject the injunction, while Alec Bohm is pressing his claim that money was taken from him for legal costs. That leaves the central issue unchanged: who controlled his finances, and who has to answer for the money still at the center of the case.
