Pj Walker retires after stops with NFL, XFL and CFL teams

is retiring from football, ending a winding pro career that took him from the NFL to the XFL and the CFL. NFL reporter reported Walker's decision on Thursday.

Walker’s path was defined by movement. The signed him in June 2024 as their third quarterback, then released him in August during final roster cuts. He spent the 2024 season with the ’ practice squad and made one start for Calgary in 2025 before stepping away from the game.

That final chapter capped a career that never settled in one place for long. Walker entered the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent from Temple, after a college run from 2013 to 2016 in which he completed 56.9% of his passes for 10,668 yards, 74 touchdowns and 44 interceptions. He also spent time with the , who signed him that year and released him in August 2019.

His most productive stretch outside the NFL came in 2020 with the of the XFL, where he went 5-0 with 1,338 yards and 15 touchdowns before the season ended because of COVID-19. Walker then joined the , where he had seven starts over three seasons and five starts in 2022 when went down. He later signed with the Chicago Bears before his release in August 2023, then moved to the Cleveland Browns.

Walker’s time in Cleveland included a game against Seattle in 2023, when he went 15-31 for 248 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He started two games for the Browns that season and nine games overall, completing 54.6% of his passes for 2,135 yards and six touchdowns in 21 game appearances while rushing for 80 yards on 31 carries.

His retirement closes a career built on short stays and sudden chances. Walker kept getting called back into the game by teams that needed depth, then left again when the next roster move came. This time, there is no next team.
