Spencer Pratt used a burned-out corner of his Pacific Palisades property on Wednesday to launch another blast at Los Angeles leaders, posting a video that tied his personal loss to his campaign for mayor. The video panned past an airstream on the lot where his home stood before it burned down early last year in the Los Angeles fires.
Pratt said the footage was meant to show the difference between where Mayor Karen Bass and City Council member Nithya Raman live and what he called the reality of Los Angeles. He added, “They let my home burn down. I know what the consequences of failed leadership are. That’s why I am running for mayor. For my sons and the rest of these Angelenos that want to stop these corrupt politicians from destroying our city,” before finishing, “We are going to get the golden age of Los Angeles back.”
The video was captioned, “They not like us,” a nod to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Pratt launched his mayoral campaign after he lost his home in the Palisades fire, and he has spent much of his time since then criticizing Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom. The new post pushed that attack into sharper focus by putting his fire loss at the center of his political pitch.
Social media quickly turned the clip into a pop-culture spectacle. Some users compared Pratt to Keanu Reeves’ character John Wick, with one X user writing, “Spencer is John Wick,” while another posted an AI-generated movie poster titled, “Pratt for Mayor. Operation Save LA.”
That online response may have given the video more reach, but the message behind it was blunt: Pratt is betting that anger over the fire and distrust of City Hall can carry his campaign forward. The question now is whether the former reality TV figure can turn that grievance into votes, or whether the viral moment will remain exactly that — a moment.
