Luas services were hit by delays this morning after a car collided with a tram at Bluebell, disrupting outbound Red Line passengers across the route.
The transport operator said Red Line services were running with delays after the incident on the Naas Road in Inchicore, while Gardaí attended the scene and told motorists to avoid the area. A Luas spokesperson said tickets were being accepted on Dublin Bus for the duration of the disruption, and Green Line services were operating normally.
The collision affected the Red Line route only, leaving the Green Line untouched, but Luas did not say when normal Red Line services would resume. For passengers trying to get out of the city this morning, the practical answer was a slower tram, a bus alternative and no firm timetable for when the line would clear.
Gardaí remained at the scene while the disruption continued, and the incident added another reminder of how quickly a road traffic collision can ripple through Dublin’s tram network. The Red Line was still facing delays, and commuters were left to work around the interruption rather than wait for a precise restart time.
