Elijah Haven Alabama Commitment Gives Crimson Tide Top QB in 2027

landed the No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2027 on Saturday when committed to the Crimson Tide over . The five-star passer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, announced his decision while hosting a youth camp in Louisiana on Saturday afternoon.

Haven is 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds and ranks as the No. 6 overall prospect in the SC Next Junior 300. He becomes the second quarterback in Alabama coach ’s latest recruiting class, joining , who has been committed since last October.

The decision capped a long pursuit. Alabama offered Haven in June 2025 and brought him to campus twice last fall, then again in January. He returned for the spring game earlier this month, while also taking an unofficial visit to Georgia in early April. In the end, Haven said the connection with DeBoer, and carried the most weight in a choice he said was about familiarity and the best path for his future.

Haven said Alabama’s pro-style offense fit him well and that the Crimson Tide develop players better than anyone else, a pitch that helped separate the program from Georgia. He has been a three-year starter at in Oak Hills Place, Louisiana, where he was named Louisiana’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year last fall after a junior season that produced 3,931 passing yards on 72.3% completion, 62 passing touchdowns and a state championship, the school’s first since 2004.

He also added 793 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in 2025 and has a 35-5 record as a varsity starter. Alabama now has three SC Next 300 commitments in its 2027 class, continuing a run of quarterback recruiting under DeBoer that already includes former five-star Keelon Russell and 2026 signees Jett Thomalla and Tayden-Evan Kaawa. Four-star quarterbacks Colton Nussmeier, Peter Bourque and Wonder Monds IV remain uncommitted in the rankings.
