Steven McBee Jr. says he is now single after breaking up with Allie Eklund, saying he learned at Stagecoach Festival that she was allegedly unfaithful. He said he left California a day early, then got several direct messages the next day that set off red flags and led him to post screenshots on Instagram.
McBee said one person accused Eklund of acting inappropriately in his absence, and he said the Instagram account of the man she was allegedly with appeared in the screenshots he shared. “She’s a good person and I wish I wouldn’t have posted on social media,” he said, adding, “I’m not good at holding my emotions in check at the moment.”
He said the breakup hit him hard because he had just been with Eklund the day before and the pair had been talking about the house they wanted to build and the year ahead. “I was just so mind-blown waking up this morning,” he said. “I was just with her yesterday, and we were talking about how big of a year we were gonna have and the house we wanted to build together. Crazy.”
The fallout lands in the middle of a relationship that McBee and Eklund hard-launched in November, after he had recently come out of a tumultuous relationship with his ex, Calah Jackson. McBee, a star of McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, also said, “I’m extremely Type A and get stressed, have mood swings,” and added, “So in her defense, I’m not the easiest guy to be with, and I don’t want this to completely destroy her – but I am just absolutely mind blown that this happened.”
He said the breakup may have been triggered by his own decision to go to Stagecoach because he was worried about her attention-seeking behavior. “The only reason I went to Stagecoach was because I was nervous about how attention-starved she is all the time,” he said. Eklund and Drew Dodson had not responded to requests for comment, leaving McBee’s version of events to stand on its own for now.
The images, the accusations and the public breakup suggest the relationship is over in anything but private terms. For McBee, the next question is not whether he has moved on — he said he has — but how much more of the split will play out online.
