French Broad Chocolates PBC is recalling select Bette’s Bake Sale Bonbon Collection boxes sold nationwide after a labeling error left walnuts undeclared in the tasting notes insert. The French Broad Chocolates walnut recall covers six-piece, 12-piece and 24-piece boxes with batch numbers 260414 and 260417.
The products were distributed from April 14, 2026, through April 20, 2026, and were sold in the company’s Asheville, North Carolina, retail stores as well as online to customers in multiple states. The affected boxes carry best by dates from June 22, 2026, to June 30, 2026.
The company said the mistake was tied to the printed tasting notes, which failed to identify walnuts as a tree nut allergen. In the guide, the Walnut Fudge bonbon, which contains walnuts, was incorrectly identified and switched with the Peach Cobbler bonbon.
A team member notified the company of the issue on April 20, 2026, and the recall was issued that same day, according to a company announcement posted by the Food and Drug Administration. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The risk in this recall is not the chocolate itself but the missing label on an ingredient that can trigger serious or life-threatening reactions in people with walnut allergies. Anyone who bought the affected boxes should treat the mislabeling as the hazard and not the batch number as a reassurance.
