Netflix has set Enola Holmes 3 for a global release on July 1 and released first-look images that show wedding bells ringing for Enola and Tewkesbury. The new pictures mark the next chapter for Millie Bobby Brown’s young detective, whose latest case takes her to Malta.
The streamer says adventure chases Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before. Netflix also says the private detective is juggling the new investigation with the next stages of her relationship with Tewkesbury, played by Louis Partridge.
Brown returns as Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister, with Henry Cavill back as Sherlock Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, Himesh Patel as Dr. John Watson and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Moriarty. Philip Baranti directed the film, taking over from Harry Bradbeer, who directed the first two Enola Holmes films.
The release date gives the franchise its first new chapter since Enola Holmes 2 arrived in 2022. That film opened with Enola launching her own detective agency and solving a mystery inspired by the 1888 Matchgirls’ Strike in London, setting up a version of the character who is now old enough to chase cases and romance at the same time.
The third installment is based on Nancy Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries and is produced by Legendary Entertainment and PCMA Productions. Brown, Jack Thorne, Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Ali Mendes, Robert Brown and Michael Dreyer are listed as producers, with Joshua Grode, Jake Bongiovi and Isobel Richards as executive producers.
For now, the new images do most of the talking. Enola Holmes 3 is not just sending its lead character on another investigation; it is putting her personal future in the same room as her profession, and making July 1 the date when both come to a head.
