Rcd Espanyol - Levante closes Jornada 32 with survival pressure in Barcelona

By Chris Lawson Apr 27, 2026

and meet on Monday at the RCDE Stadium to close jornada 32, with both teams under pressure for very different reasons but the same simple task: take points. Espanyol is trying to move away from the relegation zone, while Levante needs a win to keep its fight to remain in the category alive.

Espanyol arrives with only one point from the last 15 available and after a 0-1 loss to Rayo Vallecano, a run that has kept the margin to danger narrow. Levante would move to a third consecutive victory if it wins in Barcelona, and that would matter even more after five straight away league matches without a victory.

The numbers leave little room between them. After 33 matchdays, both sides have conceded 49 or 50 goals and each has scored 37. That is the shape of the match: two teams that can hurt one another, but neither has been steady enough to control games for long stretches.

History gives Espanyol a slight edge. It has lost only one of its last 10 direct meetings with Levante and has won three of the last four home matches against them. Levante, though, has found goals in this matchup too: in the last six head-to-head meetings between the clubs, both teams scored every time.

There is also the question of where Espanyol stands at home. The club had not yet won at the RCDE Stadium in 2026, a detail that sharpens the pressure on a night when a home result would carry extra weight. Even so, the recent record against Levante suggests the visitors cannot assume control simply because Espanyol is in a poor run.

That is the friction in this closing match of jornada 32. Espanyol’s negative spell has left it scrambling for stability, but a victory would still keep open the possibility of thinking beyond survival. Levante remains among the three worst teams in the table, yet its recent improvement has strengthened its chances of staying up. On Monday, one side needs relief and the other needs momentum, and both know the gap between them is thin.
