Sai Pallavi stepped into Hindi cinema on Sunday as she and Junaid Khan attended a promotional event for Ek Din, the romantic drama that marks her debut in the language. Aamir Khan was also present at the event, where Pallavi spoke openly about feeling both excited and nervous.
"This is going to be my first Hindi film. I'm actually quite nervous," Pallavi said, adding that Junaid was "an absolutely beautiful co-star" and "an obedient child, actually." She also thanked Aamir Khan for "putting me in a space like this" and picking her for the film, saying she had "a great time."
That reaction carried extra weight because Pallavi has spent a decade working in South Indian cinema, in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films, and Ek Din is her first step into Hindi. The film is helmed by Sunil Pandey and backed by Mansoor Khan, Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under Aamir Khan Productions.
Ek Din is a remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day, which follows a young man who falls in love with a colleague but does not find the courage to confess his feelings. In that story, he wishes to be with her for just one day, and the wish comes true, giving the remake a built-in emotional frame before its Hindi release begins to take shape.
Pallavi’s comments also showed how personal the moment was for her. She said she did not know what work she had done, but felt happy that what she had done had brought her into a room full of talented people and left her humbled. She added that Aamir Khan was "crazy enough to be that emotional in public," while saying she sometimes wished the lights were dimmed so she could be more emotional herself.
The contrast is the real story here: a performer known for South Indian films now faces the pressure of a Hindi debut, but she is doing it inside a project tied closely to Aamir Khan and his production house. For Pallavi, Ek Din is not just another film promotion. It is the opening of a new chapter, and she has already said she is nervous enough to know it matters.
