The 2026 Mercy Health Glass City Marathon and a slate of companion races will close roads, restrict parking and reroute traffic on and near the University of Toledo’s Main Campus this weekend. The finish line for the marathon, half marathon, 5K, relay and kids race will be at the Glass Bowl.
The Toledo Roadrunners Club is organizing the weekend events, which include the Owens Corning Half Marathon, Savage 5K, North Star Bluescope 5-Person Marathon Relay and Nationwide Children’s Toledo Kids Race. University officials are warning students, faculty, staff and visitors to plan ahead because the traffic impacts begin Thursday, April 23, and continue through Sunday, April 26.
Parking changes start first. Area 10 closes at 8 p.m. Thursday and remains closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday and Saturday, parking is available without permits in Areas 1N, 1S, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. On Sunday, no permits are required to park on Main Campus.
The biggest disruptions come Saturday morning, when eastbound Bancroft Street closes from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday between Secor Road and Westwood Avenue. Additional closures are set for Bancroft Street from 7 to 10 a.m. between Secor Road and Westwood Avenue, from 8:30 to 9 a.m. between Orchard Road and Secor Road, Secor Road from 8:30 to 9 a.m. between Bancroft Street and West Towerview Boulevard, Douglas Road at East Rocket Drive from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m., and Westwood Avenue from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. between Oakwood Avenue and Bancroft Street.
Road restrictions also extend onto campus, where various streets are closed from 8:30 to noon. West Towerview Boulevard, West Rocket Drive, East Rocket Drive, North Towerview Boulevard and Stadium Drive are among the affected roads, and Stadium Drive stays closed until noon. On Sunday, eastbound Sylvania Avenue is closed from King Road to Corey Road from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., and there is no eastbound turn from King Road to Sylvania Avenue during that window.
The schedule leaves little room for normal weekend traffic on campus, especially Saturday, when the races converge around the finish line and the university’s main east-west corridors. By Sunday morning, the heaviest closures begin to ease, but drivers heading through the area before late morning will still need to build in extra time.
