Two people were killed and two others were injured Friday morning in a head-on crash between an SUV and a pickup truck on Highway 18 in Raymond, Mississippi, authorities said.
The crash happened around 4:22 a.m., according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard said the driver of the SUV, 51-year-old Ursula Hunley of Utica, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 51-year-old Damaris Hunley, her twin sister, was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, 29-year-old Justin Campbell of Petal, was also taken to UMMC and later died there, Howard said.
The vehicles involved were a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2007 Honda Pilot. Highway 18 was briefly shut down after the crash, but both directions were open again by 7:12 a.m. Friday.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol said the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The response included the Raymond Fire Department, multiple ambulances, Aircare and the Hinds County Coroner, a sign of how quickly a deadly wreck can turn a quiet stretch of road into an emergency scene before sunrise.
