Trey Zuhn III blew out his knee before his senior season at Fossil Ridge, and for a moment he wondered whether Texas A&M would still keep his scholarship. The answer was yes, and the 6-foot-6, 312-pound lineman got to College Station early after graduating in December to rehab and begin the long climb back.
That setback now sits behind a draft prospect who is projected to go on Day 2 or Day 3 this week. Zuhn was Colorado’s top-ranked high school prospect in the Class of 2021, then redshirted as a freshman at Texas A&M before becoming a four-year starter at left tackle, a two-year Aggies captain and a third-team All-SEC selection in 2024.
His rise came one layer at a time. He said the first spring was about survival as much as football. “That whole spring I really focused on learning the playbook and spent a lot of time in the O-line room,” Zuhn said. By the time fall camp arrived in 2021, he trusted the knee again and stopped looking back.
What followed was the profile NFL teams now have to sort through. Zuhn saw time at center in many games last fall and made two starts there, while also working at guard in practice. He said he is comfortable at all five spots on the line, and teams have split on what that means: some see a tackle who can slide inside to center or guard, while others view him as an interior lineman who can kick out to tackle in a pinch.
The numbers from his final season support the versatility case. Pro Football Focus gave Zuhn a 96.8 pass-blocking grade in 2025, and he allowed only two sacks all season. He also shared the Jacobs Blocking Trophy with Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor, a reward for being one of the SEC’s top offensive linemen.
Even that honor did not change his approach. Zuhn said awards can make a player complacent, and his mindset after the trophy was that there was still more work to do. That outlook has shaped the pre-draft process, too, with Zuhn meeting with almost every NFL team and trying to show he can help wherever a line needs him most.
The combine did not give him the full showcase he wanted after a sprained ankle at the Senior Bowl kept him from fully participating, but his estimated athleticism score of 96 still ranked second among all centers. For teams looking for size, movement and position flexibility in the same package, trey zuhn is one of the more unusual linemen in this draft class.
He has already beaten one long odds to get here. Another Fossil Ridge alum, Brady Russell, won the Super Bowl with Seattle in February after going undrafted out of CU. Zuhn is next in line, and this week will show whether NFL teams value him more as a tackle, an interior lineman or the kind of answer who can survive almost anywhere on the front line.
