Georgia answered a road loss with a runaway win, beating Arkansas 26-14 on Saturday after taking the lead for good with six runs in the top of the third and blowing the game open with 11 runs in the ninth. The Bulldogs improved to 32-9 overall and 13-5 in conference play after a ranked weekend series in Fayetteville.
The win gave Georgia a split of the three-game set after Arkansas opened with a 6-3 victory on Thursday and Georgia responded with a 5-3 win on Friday. Saturday’s game turned fast and then turned wild, with Georgia moving ahead 7-6 before the late surge put the result out of reach.
The weekend mattered because Georgia had already taken its first conference series loss of the season against Florida in Athens, a slip that put more pressure on another ranked league matchup. Instead, Georgia left Arkansas still firmly in the race and still near the top of the baseball standings that had kept the team in view through much of the spring.
What came next was just as demanding. Georgia is scheduled to play Georgia Tech at Truist Park on Tuesday before opening a series at Ole Miss in Oxford on Friday. Saturday’s game against Ole Miss is set for SEC Network, giving Georgia another national stage in a week that could shape how the rest of its season is viewed.
