Police investigate incident near Southdale Mall; West 66th Street blocked

were responding Monday afternoon to an incident at an apartment building near Southdale Mall, closing off West 66th Street as investigators worked at the scene. The department said the call came in around 12:30 p.m. on the 3300 block of 66th Street.

Aerial video from showed officers investigating in the area of an apartment building across from Southdale Mall as the road remained blocked off. said it put lockdown procedures in place as a precaution after being notified by Edina police.

Police have not yet said what led to the response. Edina police said they will release more information as they are able, while FOX 9 said it was still working to learn more about exactly what happened.

The incident unfolded in a busy part of Edina, Minnesota, near one of the area’s best-known shopping destinations, which is why the police response drew immediate attention. For now, the clearest answer is that investigators are still working the scene and the next update will have to come from police.
