Sinja Kraus? Leandro Riedi wins Busan Challenger to keep climb alive

By Chris Lawson Apr 22, 2026

won the hard-court Challenger in Busan on Sunday, beating 3:6, 6:3, 6:2 to claim his fifth title in the category. The Swiss player, ranked 169, came through a final that turned after a slow start and put himself in line to move up 40 places in the upcoming ATP rankings.

The result mattered because Riedi has been trying to rebuild momentum after injuries slowed him earlier in the year. Last September, he reached the round of 16 at the , a run that raised expectations but did not carry cleanly into the months that followed. Busan gave him a needed response, and it came on a hard court in South Korea, where he outlasted Bu, ranked ATP 175, after dropping the opening set.

That comeback also sharpened the contrast with the year he has had. Riedi’s start to 2024 was disrupted by injuries, and the challenge since then has been turning flashes of promise into something more durable. The Busan title does not erase that stop-start path, but it does show he can still finish strongly when the draw gives him a chance.

What comes next is clearer now than it was a week ago. The ranking jump should give Riedi a better platform for the tasks ahead, and South Korea may end up being the place where his season finally shifted from recovery to progress.
