José Mourinho warned that Real Madrid could be thrown off balance around Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé after the club was eliminated from the Champions League. The former Real Madrid coach said the risk grows sharply after a heavy defeat, when big players and big egos become especially fragile.
Mourinho said it is understandable that Vinícius Júnior and Mbappé want central roles, but he argued that top-level football cannot function without a clear order. “You cannot have two kings in the same team without structure, without rules and without hierarchy,” he said, adding that the talent is obvious but harmony is what wins titles.
His warning lands at a difficult moment for Real Madrid, whose Champions League exit has increased pressure at the Bernabéu and come as the team also struggles in La Liga. That combination leaves little margin for any dressing-room friction, and Mourinho pointed to the way frustration can surface in body language, attitudes or tense exchanges between players after a big loss.
“Everyone in the dressing room saw it,” Mourinho said, describing how those signs can spread if they are not handled quickly. He said the coach has to be very firm from the start, or the group can split. For Real Madrid, the issue is not just how to respond to one elimination, but whether the balance around its biggest names can be kept intact before the season’s problems deepen.
