Julianna Margulies has joined the recurring cast of Dan Fogelman’s Hulu series Paradise for Season 3. The role is being kept under wraps, and so is the plot of the new season.
The addition gives the thriller another familiar face. Margulies is known for ER and The Good Wife, and she recently played Laura Peterson in the third season of The Morning Show.
Paradise stars Sterling K. Brown and is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals, until a shocking murder turns the place into the center of a high-stakes investigation. The series is created and executive produced by Fogelman and produced by 20th Television.
That setup has already pushed the show through two different moves. In Season 2, Xavier goes looking for his wife, Teri, after learning that survivors remain in the outside world, and he leaves the Paradise bunker for the first time since the planet’s destruction. The cast for that season includes Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Krys Marshall, Enuka Okuma, Aliyah Mastin, Percy Daggs IV and Charlie Evans, with recurring guest stars James Marsden, Shailene Woodley, Thomas Doherty and Jon Beavers.
The timing gives the casting news extra weight. Paradise’s Season 2 finale drew 4.3 million views globally in three days across Disney+ and Hulu on March 30, and the show has become a bigger destination as the story widens beyond the bunker. Margulies joins that world before viewers know where the third season is heading, which suggests the series is still leaning on surprise rather than explanation.
