The would pursue Florida coach if leaves, according to a Monday report, putting the reigning college champion on the NBA radar. Golden led Florida to the 2025 national championship and has gone 160-77 in four seasons in Gainesville.

The interest lands at a delicate moment for Golden and Golden, whose coaching career has been entirely in college basketball since 2012. Kerr is not under contract for next season, while Golden’s rise has come after four seasons at Florida that ended with a title few saw coming that fast.

’s Ramona Shelburne and Anthony Slater also reported Monday that the Warriors could consider a college coach, a sign the search may stretch beyond the usual NBA coaching pool. That would make sense for a team built around an older core of 38-year-old , 36-year-old and 36-year-old , but it also raises the question of whether a first-time NBA coach can be dropped into a job with title pressure from day one.

Green said on his podcast that he hoped Kerr would remain in the job next season. He also said, “You want my opinion? I think not. Just because it feels like that. It felt like that was it.” Kerr has said he would never leave Curry, and Curry is under contract for next season and has interest in signing an extension.

That leaves the Warriors weighing continuity against a possible reset at coach, with Golden’s name now in the mix if Kerr does move on. The timing matters because the team’s stars are deep into their careers, and any search that turns to a college coach would be a sign Golden’s title run in Gainesville changed his profile far beyond the college game.
