Pawan Kalyan undergoes surgery after illness, Lokesh wishes speedy recovery

By Emily Rhodes Apr 19, 2026

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister underwent surgery on Saturday evening after falling ill during official discussions, and doctors have advised him to rest for 7–10 days before returning to duty. Minister later wrote on X wishing him a speedy recovery.

Lokesh said he prayed for the deputy chief minister’s recovery and asked him to follow doctors’ advice, calling him Pawan-anna and expressing hope that he would regain full health and return to public service. The message came on April 18.

Doctors had carried out tests, including an MRI, before going ahead with the surgery. The initial rest period is expected to keep him away from official work for about a week to 10 days, but a full recovery will take longer.

Kalyan, who is also the chief, had fallen ill during the discussions that preceded the procedure. That sequence leaves Andhra Pradesh with its deputy chief minister sidelined at a moment when his return to active duties now depends on how quickly his recovery progresses beyond the first phase of rest.
