did not walk onstage at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena until 9:48 p.m. Friday, nearly 90 minutes after her scheduled 8:30 p.m. call time, but once she arrived, the first of two Atlanta shows turned into a two-hour, celebrity-packed stop on the .

She opened with “Hello” from her sophomore album “”, which was released in September, then moved through “Magnet” and “Salute” before later returning in a navy blue bedazzled bodysuit for “Money” and “Killin You Hoes.” Midway through the night, Cardi told the crowd she knew she had kept them waiting and that there were a lot of celebrities in the building, adding that nobody should embarrass her.

The show carried a second-life feeling from the start. Atlanta radio personality and warmed up the crowd before Cardi appeared, and Atlanta rappers YK Niece and Belly Gang Kushington also helped build the room before the headliner finally came out. was the night’s first guest, stepping out in all pink to perform “” as the crowd shifted from patience to payoff.

Cardi saved some of the biggest production swings for later, including a Latin-themed section in which she wore a peacock suit and performed “Taki Taki,” “Bongos” and “I Like It.” The Atlanta stop was the final piece of Cardi B’s first solo headlining arena tour since her 2016 debut, and that made Friday’s delay and finish feel like more than a simple scheduling hiccup. This was a homecoming-adjacent show for an artist who is Bronx-bred, once called Atlanta home and lived in the city for a few years while married to before their 2024 divorce. She now primarily lives in New Jersey, which made Atlanta less a current base than a place with old ties and a loud welcome.

The friction in the night was obvious: a scheduled 8:30 p.m. start became a 9:48 p.m. entrance, and the crowd had to wait through pre-show sets and a long pause before Cardi arrived. But the room never emptied, and the late start did not blunt the finish. Saturday night’s second Atlanta show remains on the itinerary, and Friday’s performance showed why the city still matters to Cardi B even as she moves on to the next stage of her career.
