Gunther says Brock Lesnar could be next after retirement run

By Lauren Price Apr 19, 2026

says he does not keep a kill list, but he did not shut the door on being next. In a new interview on Graps The Podcast, the wrestler who sent , John Cena and AJ Styles into retirement over the last year said he is watching the field closely and may already be circling a name.

Asked who was next after that run, Gunther said he has no list and prefers to read the landscape as it changes. He told Complex he is “very good at observing the landscape and taking advantage of opportunities,” then answered the Brock question with a careful, “To be honest, let’s see. I think he’s got his hands full right now.”

Complex pressed the point, saying it did not think there was any doubt in his mind. Gunther answered, “No, I can do it.” He then added, “But first thing’s first. Let’s see. I don’t know where Brock is…he’s [not] around that much. And you don’t really hear or see much, so, I got to do my intel. But maybe a guy owes me that knows what his plans are. I’m just saying maybe…I don’t know.”

The timing matters because the conversation comes just after , where Gunther solved ’s problem this weekend. That detail gives the remark more than the feel of locker-room talk; it suggests Heyman may owe him a favor, and that could matter if Gunther decides to come calling about Lesnar.

Lesnar is being discussed as someone who may be close to the end of his WWE career, and Gunther’s comments landed like a warning shot. He already has a recent record of forcing retirements, and the idea that he could use Heyman’s debt to get at Lesnar gives the story a path beyond the interview itself. SummerSlam Minnesota later this year could become the place where that path turns into a match, if Gunther decides the intel is good enough.

For now, he is not promising anything. He is doing what he said he does best: watching, waiting, and stepping in when the opening looks right.
