Charles Dance in talks to join The Batman Part II as Gotham drama grows

is in talks to join The Batman Part II, a move that would put the veteran British actor in Gotham alongside if a deal closes. The sequel to ’ hit Batman reboot is set to start production in the spring and is scheduled to open in theaters on October 1, 2027.

If Dance signs on, he would likely play Charles Dent, the father of Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent. is set to play Harvey Dent, while is on board to play Dent’s wife. Pattinson is set to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader, keeping the film anchored to the darker, street-level version of Batman that made the first movie a box office success.

James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing the film with Dylan Clark, and Reeves is writing and directing. The project arrives after The Batman grossed $369.3 million domestically and $772M worldwide in 2022, making it the first mega theatrical blockbuster for after the studio implemented a day-and-date release strategy on .

Dance, best known for playing Tywin Lannister on Game of Thrones, most recently appeared as Dr. Frankenstein’s father in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and on the Peacock series Day of the Jackal. Deadline reported that DC Studios had no comment on Dance joining the film, leaving the casting still unfinished even as the production timetable is already in place.

For now, the question is not whether The Batman Part II is moving ahead — it is. The issue is whether Dance closes his deal in time to step into a Gotham family drama that already has its Batman, its Harvey Dent and its release date locked in.
