Jack Ryan is back in action, and this time he is doing it as a one-off movie after the end of Season 4. John Krasinski returns as the CIA analyst in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War, which arrives on Prime Video on May 20, 2026.
A new full-length trailer shows Ryan retired from the spy business before he is pulled back in to help take on Starling, a group whose agents are trained for terror and destruction. The film also pairs him with MI6 operative Emma Marlowe, played by Sienna Miller, while Wendell Pierce returns as James Greer. Much of the footage leans on car chases and shoot-outs in London, with the action also stretching across New York City and Dubai.
The trailer points to a movie that is meant to work without a homework assignment. There are four seasons of Jack Ryan continuity behind it, along with the Tom Clancy books, but Ghost War is being presented as a fresh entry rather than a direct extension of the series. That matters because it lets the film bring back familiar names while keeping the plot accessible to viewers who have not followed every turn of the show.
The one real friction point is built into the premise itself: Ryan is supposed to be out, but the threat is big enough to drag him back in. That is the shape of the story the trailer sets up, and it is also the reason the movie will be watched closely on May 20. It is not a return to the old series so much as a reset that asks whether Jack Ryan still works when the fight starts again.
