Iowa has locked in a visit with Illinois State transfer Ty'Reek Coleman, a 6-foot-2 guard from Aurora, Illinois, as the Hawkeyes keep working to fill out their roster in the transfer portal. Coleman is scheduled to be in Iowa next weekend after arranging stops with Kansas State, Nebraska and Utah State.
Coleman would bring a freshman season that showed real production. He averaged 10.0 points per game for Illinois State while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 41.6 percent from 3-point range, adding 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 22.7 minutes per game. For Iowa, that profile fits a search that has already reached at least seven different transfers as Ben McCollum and the staff look for pieces around the roster.
The portal window has been open for nearly a week, and Iowa is moving quickly after a 24-13 season that ended in the Elite Eight for the first time since 1987. The Hawkeyes are also trying to replace Bennett Stirtz, which has made guard depth and perimeter shooting part of the early offseason priority list.
That makes Coleman one more name in a process that has already included a visit from center Andrew McKeever last weekend.
