By Chris Lawson Apr 17, 2026

plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, a move his representatives at told ’s about this week. The wing is leaving after a junior season in which he started 12 games in 32 appearances and averaged 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists off the bench.

Stewart has one year of eligibility remaining, and his next stop will be his fourth season of college basketball. He arrived at UConn as a four-star prospect out of Seattle Garfield, where he was ranked the No. 60 overall player in the 2023 cycle and the top-ranked player from Washington by the Rivals Industry Ranking.

His departure adds another name to a busy offseason for the Huskies. Stewart is the fifth player expected to transfer from UConn, following center , who entered the portal after averaging 5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds this past season. UConn has also added former forward from the transfer market so far.

Stewart had become a steady part of the rotation over the last two seasons. As a sophomore in 2024-25, he averaged 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 35 games, including 12 starts. As a freshman in 2023-24, he appeared in 37 games and averaged 2.5 points and 1.2 rebounds across 8.9 minutes per game.

The move comes after UConn’s run to the national championship game for the third time in four years. The Huskies entered the 2026 NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed, lost to St. John’s in the Big East Tournament championship and finished 34-6 overall with a 17-3 mark in conference play before their season ended against Michigan in the title game earlier this month.

For UConn, the portal gives the staff another roster decision to manage after a season that again put the program on the final stage. For Stewart, it opens the door to a final season elsewhere after three years in Storrs and a career that grew from reserve minutes into a regular rotation role.
