Zayn Malik posted a photo from a hospital bed on social media on Sunday, saying he had been rushed in and was still unexpectedly recovering as a run of UK album events was pulled. The singer appeared to be connected to an ECG machine with a blood pressure monitor on his arm, and said he was heartbroken not to see fans this week.
Banquet Records postponed a one-off album playback and question-and-answer session in Kingston after saying Monday's ZAYN events were off because of illness. Malik later told fans he was sick and would not be able to make it to the UK this week as planned, adding that the Banquet Q&A was being rescheduled and that new dates would be shared soon.
He also thanked hospital staff in a message posted alongside the image, naming doctors, nurses, a cardiologist, management and admin staff among those who had helped him. “To my fans - Thank you to all of you for your love & support now & always-been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering. Heartbroken that I can't see you all this week,” he wrote. He added: “I wouldn't be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding. Thank you to the incredible hospital staff of Drs, nurses, cardiologist, management, admin and everyone who has helped along the way and continue to. You are all legends! Big big love xx z.”
The hospital update rippled through the rest of the schedule. In-store events at Looney Tunes, Rough Trade, Newbury Comics and The Sound Garden were cancelled after the announcement, while the NY KONNAKOL pop-up at UMusic Shop stayed open on Monday without Malik.
The latest disruption lands after a pattern that will not reassure fans. Malik canceled a show on the day it was supposed to happen in 2024 because of unforeseen circumstances, and he had previously canceled a Banquet Records event two years earlier. This time, though, the message is clearer: the UK appearance was not simply delayed, it was shelved because he was in no shape to travel. The remaining question is how quickly the rescheduled dates and ticket-holder arrangements can be put back together once he is well enough to return.
