Natalie Portman is expecting her third child with French music producer Tanguy Destable, she revealed exclusively to Harper’s Bazaar. “Tanguy and I are very excited,” Portman said, adding that she feels “very grateful” and knows pregnancy is “such a privilege and a miracle.”
The news comes as Portman, 44, is moving through a pregnancy she says has been shaped by years of hearing about fertility from her father, who is a fertility doctor. “I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant,” she said. That awareness, she said, has left her with a deeper sense of gratitude that younger people do not always have.
Portman already has two children from her previous marriage to choreographer Benjamin Millepied: her son Aleph, 14, and her daughter Amalia, 9. She said she is staying active with swimming and gyrotonics to keep strong, while also spending plenty of time with her children. “I have more energy than I thought I might,” she said, describing the experience as one that has fit into a family life she knows well.
The pregnancy also comes during a busy stretch professionally for Portman. She has two completed projects ahead through her production company MountainA, which she cofounded with Sophie Mas in 2020. In The Gallerist, directed by Cathy Yan, Portman plays a high-strung art dealer in a film set for release in late 2026. She is also starring in Netflix’s Good Sex, written and directed by Lena Dunham and scheduled for early 2027, alongside Mark Ruffalo, Meg Ryan and Rashida Jones.
Portman said she has been based in Paris on and off for several years, and that living there has affected how she thinks about pregnancy because France considers full-term to be 41 weeks rather than 40. But the larger point in her comments was simpler than any milestone or deadline: this is a family she knows, a life she is already in, and a pregnancy she is meeting with calm rather than spectacle. “We know what to do,” she said, and for Portman that means staying present, loving her children and letting the rest take care of itself.
