School Delays: Storms Blow Off Roof, Close Roads in Lycoming County

By Ashley Turner Apr 17, 2026

Strong storms swept through Lycoming County late Wednesday night, blowing the roof off a house in the 5900 block of Warrensville Road in Eldred Township and leaving insulation scattered across the street.

Another downed tree blocked part of the roadway a short distance from the damaged home, and multiple trees were reported down across the county. In the 4400 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Hepburn Township, a fallen tree also blocked part of the roadway.

The storm damage also forced traffic changes on two roads. Route 4001, also called Little Pine Creek Road, was closed between Route 44 in Cummings Township and Route 287 in Pine Township because trees were into utilities. Route 2022, also called Warrensville Road, had an open lane restriction between Northway Road, Route 2029, in Eldred Township and Rose Valley Road, Route 1001, in Hepburn Township for the same reason.

The disruption was immediate and local, with crews facing a mix of roof damage, blocked roads and utility hazards before dawn Thursday. For drivers and neighbors in the hardest-hit stretches, the next concern is clearing the roads and restoring safe access after a night when the storms moved fast and left several points of the county dealing with the aftermath at once.
