Taylor Momsen said she was hospitalized after a poisonous spider bite just before a scheduled show with The Pretty Reckless, posting on April 14 that the bite had sent her to the hospital and left a rash running up her calf. The 32-year-old singer, who was traveling with AC/DC on the Power Up tour, wrote, “Hospital today, show tomorrow,” and added, “Poisonous spiders are NO BUENO but the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City!”
The post showed the bite and came after Momsen said the initial attack had happened nearly a week earlier, when a “massive spider” decided to “take a chunk out of” her leg. She said the venom “did a number” on her system and, in a post from April 9, joked, “It wouldn’t be an AC/DC tour if I didn’t get bit” and “Add it to the list! Spider woman? Batgirl?”
The hospitalization matters because Momsen was expected back onstage in Mexico City the next day, and because the spider bite landed almost exactly two years after another strange onstage injury that made her internet-famous for all the wrong reasons. In May 2024, while performing in Spain, she was bitten by a bat mid-concert, telling the crowd, “There’s a f--king flying bat on my leg right now” and, moments later, “Can someone help me please?”
After a stage hand removed the bat, she thanked the crew with “Gracias!” and said, “It’s alright. And the bat’s fine. He’s gonna be my new friend.” She later wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post that the bat bit her and that she needed rabies shots for the next two weeks, calling it a “ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT.” Hospital staff later dubbed her #batgirl after seeing the incident on local news, a label she embraced with, “That’s one for the books!!!!”
The contradiction in Momsen’s latest post is the same one that has followed her for two years: the injury is real, the recovery is messy, and the show still goes on. This time, she said she was in the hospital one day and expected to perform the next, which leaves one answer already clear — the Mexico City date was still on her calendar, even after the spider bite.
