Ksdk Weather: Warm April air gives way to storms tonight, cooler Saturday

By Ashley Turner Apr 16, 2026

It has felt more like June than mid-April today, and the stretch of warm weather is not done yet. Scattered thunderstorms will move across the area this evening and continue through the overnight hours, with the strongest storms capable of pea-sized hail and wind gusts up to 45 mph.

said it plainly: it has felt more like June than mid-April today. That warmth carries into tonight before lows dip into the lower to middle 60s by morning. Severe weather is not expected at this time, but the storms could still bring a quick burst of rain and brief wind as they pass through.

There is a little more unsettled weather on the way tomorrow. A few showers may arrive early in the day, then conditions turn partly cloudy. An isolated storm or two is possible in the afternoon, though no severe weather is anticipated. Highs will reach the lower 80s, keeping the air warm even after the morning showers move out.

Friday looks mostly warm and windy throughout the day, with highs climbing into the middle to upper 80s. That will be the last of the stretch before a cold front moves through the region on Saturday. Some thunderstorms are possible then, and the thunderstorm outlook is currently marginal. Temperatures will be much lower, with highs mostly in the 60s.

The bigger change comes after the front passes. Some regions may wake up Sunday morning to temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s, a sharp reminder that April can still turn quickly. The warm spell is giving way to a brief round of storms, followed by a much cooler start to the weekend’s end.
