Mark Jones is leaving after more than three decades, ending a 36-year broadcasting run that began in 1990. His final game for the network will come Sunday evening, when the Boston Celtics face the Orlando Magic at 6 p.m. ET.
said Friday that Jones has made “an enduring impact at since 1990,” adding that he served as a signature voice primarily within NBA and college football coverage and across nearly all of its platforms. The network also thanked him for his countless contributions and wished him continued success.
The departure marks the end of a long run for one of ’s most familiar voices. Jones, 64, was once the network’s No. 2 NBA play-by-player and called two Finals games in 2022 when Mike Breen tested positive for COVID. He had gradually moved down ’s NBA depth chart in recent years behind Breen, Dave Pasch and Ryan Ruocco.

Jones has remained a steady presence in college football, including ’s late-night Pac-12 games when the network carried that package. He also worked games for the Sacramento Kings as a local play-by-player, while the bulk of his career stayed with and ABC across studio coverage for the Finals, Draft Lottery, All-Star game and other major events.

Jones is not expected to retire, leaving open the question of where one of sports television’s most recognizable voices lands next. For, Sunday’s Celtics-Magic game will close a stretch that helped define its NBA and college football coverage for more than three decades.
