George Springer left Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins with a left big toe fracture after fouling a ball off his foot in the third inning. Myles Straw pinch-hit for Springer on his next turn up.
The injury comes at a bad time for Toronto, which was already without Alejandro Kirk and Addison Barger because both are on the injured list. The Blue Jays also had Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber and Jose Berrios working their way back from injuries.
Springer, 36, entered the game hitting.189/.283/.377 with two home runs and four RBIs this season. That is a sharp drop from last season, when he hit.309/.399/.560 and posted a.959 OPS that ranked second in the AL behind Aaron Judge.

He had arrived at this point off a resurgent 2025 season that ended with a Silver Slugger award. Now the question is how long Toronto will be without one of its most experienced bats, and whether the club can keep patching together a lineup that already had little margin for another injury.
