Jimmy Butler is heading to The Voice: Battle of Champions, and the Golden State Warriors forward is set to appear during the show’s two-night finale event. The six-time NBA All-Star will help kick off the last stretch of Season 29 after the Semi-Finals on Monday, April 13 and the Finale on Tuesday, April 14.
Butler teased the appearance in a video aimed at Voice fans, saying he was “here in the flesh” and “super excited to be here,” while calling himself a “super fan.” The clip also shows him preparing to give Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and John Legend an NBA-worthy introduction as the finale gets underway.
For Butler, the cameo fits a pattern that has followed him for years. He has been known to sing publicly, from performing “A Thousand Miles” in 2024 to belting out “A Bar Song (Tispy)” at a Warriors open practice, and he once said in a 2015 Chicago Bulls video, “This is my calling, this is what I do, I sing.” He added then that he had “only got like a couple more years at this basketball thing” because singing was “really starting to take over.”
The appearance also gives The Voice a little extra lift at a busy point in its run. Season 29, officially titled The Voice: Battle of Champions, premiered on Monday, February 23 at 9/8c on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock. It is the first season to feature Clarkson, Levine and Legend as a three-Coach lineup, along with format changes that include the Triple Turn Competition and the Super Steal, while CeeLo Green returns in a new role.
Butler has played in the NBA since 2011 and has worn the uniforms of the Chicago Bulls, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Miami Heat and now Golden State. With the NBA Playoffs set to begin on April 19, his turn on The Voice lands in a narrow window before basketball shifts back into the spotlight. That leaves the show with a recognizable star for its finale and Butler with another chance to lean into the singing side of his public persona.
