Oklahoma City police said one person was dead after an early morning shooting Thursday, with officers responding at about 1:35 a.m. to an apartment complex near SW 16th and Westwood.
When officers arrived, they found Shemar Wilson, 27, with a gunshot wound. Wilson was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead, police said.
The shooting took place in southwest Oklahoma City, and investigators had no suspect in custody at the time of the report. Police provided the Homicide Tip-Line at -297-1200 as they continued to look for information about what led to the fatal encounter.
The case adds another killing to a city that is already in the middle of a busy news cycle, from late-spring entertainment events such as GalaxyCon Oklahoma City to the attention around the Oklahoma City Thunder. But for Wilson’s family and for investigators, the immediate question is narrower: who fired the shot, and why?
