Leon Must Die Forever lands in Resident Evil Requiem update 1.300

By Megan Foster May 8, 2026

released a surprise mini-games update for today, and the download brings a new free mode called Leon Must Die Forever. The update shows up as , or complete version 1.300.000, and weighs 2.1 GB on PS5.

The mode is sitting in the game’s Extra Games section, and Capcom says it is unlocked only after players finish the main story. Its description reads: “ made it home safely, but Leon still has work to do. Use his enhanced abilities to complete this minigame as fast as possible.”

That pitch matches the mode’s structure. Players go through nonstop combat as , fight through areas they have already visited, face stronger enemy variants and eventually take on the final boss, all while racing the clock. Capcom says the mode also includes five increasingly difficulty ranks, and players fill an enhancement gauge by defeating enemies to unlock Leon’s exclusive enhancer abilities.

Capcom confirmed the mode is similar to Ethan Must Die from , which set expectations for a hard-edged extra challenge rather than a story expansion. In Leon Must Die Forever, the order and progression of each area change from run to run, and the available enhancer abilities do too, giving each attempt a different shape.

The timing is what makes the update stand out. Resident Evil Requiem received a Photo Mode update a month ago, but this new download shadowdropped today without warning. Fans had been expecting a proper Mercenaries mode, and this update appears to take that slot instead.

Capcom is still working on a premium story DLC, but the immediate addition is the free Leon Must Die Forever mode. That makes today’s update the clearest sign yet that the game’s post-launch support is leaning hard into extra challenge content, not a broader suite of fan-requested modes.
