By Michael Bennett May 8, 2026

Ohio Gov. said Thursday that he is grateful for ’s long career in public service as the state attorney general prepares to leave office, with Yost’s resignation set to take effect June 7.

DeWine said Yost served as Delaware County auditor, Delaware County prosecutor, auditor of state and attorney general of Ohio, and wished him well in his next endeavor. The governor also said he will give the appointment of someone to serve as attorney general thoughtful and deliberate consideration.

The statement leaves the next step in the hands of DeWine, who said he knows how important the office is and how much work is done by its employees.
