Joni Lamb died at 65, Daystar Television Network said Thursday, ending the life of the Christian broadcaster who helped build the ministry into one of the largest Christian television networks in the world. The network said in a statement released May 7 that she had gone home to be with the Lord after serious health complications worsened in recent days.
Daystar said Lamb founded the network with her late husband, Marcus Lamb, in 1993, when it was still a local Christian television station. Over the years, it expanded into a global operation, and the network said she worked in Christian television for nearly four decades. In its statement, Daystar said it was sharing the news “with heavy hearts” and said Lamb had “graduated to Heaven this morning,” adding that she was now in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward for a life lived in surrender to the Lord.
The network said Lamb had privately battled significant health issues before a recent back injury intensified her condition. That detail gave the announcement a sharper edge: the public saw a polished ministry built for broadcast, but behind it was a long medical struggle kept largely out of view. The Daystar Board of Directors said Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people they serve shaped the ministry from the beginning.
Daystar said its programming would proceed as scheduled and that on-air tributes would follow in the coming days. The network also said it had already established an executive leadership team so the ministry would continue uninterrupted. Lamb’s family asked for prayers and privacy, and memorial service information was expected to be announced later.
