The Browns came out of the 2026 NFL Draft without a cornerback and then watched Martin Emerson Jr. leave in free agency, leaving them thin at a spot they still need to address before training camp. One name now linked to that need is Kenny Moore, the Indianapolis veteran who has been mentioned as a possible trade target for Cleveland.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report named the Browns and the San Francisco 49ers as teams that could pursue Moore, and he suggested the cost could be as little as a sixth-round pick next year. That would be a modest price for a player who turned 31 in August, and Knox said Moore “will turn 31 in August but played reasonably well in 2025, allowing an opposing passer rating of 87.8 in coverage. He'd be a sensible target for teams that failed to add a corner early in the draft.”
The fit for Cleveland is easy to see. The Browns have Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell, but they could use Moore as a slot corner, and Myles Harden is still young and has a ways to go in his development. Moore has been a historically capable nickel corner during his NFL career with the Colts, and the Browns’ need for another dependable body in the secondary is sharper after the draft passed without an addition at the position.
Moore’s name entered the market because Indianapolis and the corner agreed they would try to find a trade partner for him. A deal before June 1 would save the Colts $7 million in cap space, giving the team a financial reason to move quickly if a buyer emerges. Kevin Patra of NFL.com also noted that Moore did not always seem to see eye to eye with new defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, adding another layer to a split that has already moved into trade-talk territory.
For Cleveland, the question is not whether Moore has enough résumé to matter. He was a 2021 Pro Bowl corner and is now 30 years old, entering Year 10 of his career. The question is whether the Browns act on a clear short-term need before another team beats them to a player who could steady the slot and, if the past is any guide, help create more takeaways.
June is the line that matters now. If the Colts find a trade partner before then, Moore could be moved with one less year of friction and one more year of value for a contender or a team trying to patch a hole that the draft did not fill.
