Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Orlando Bloom are set to star in Reset, a survival thriller that will head into production in August. Matt Smukler is directing the film, which follows a woman who wakes up in the middle of the wilderness days from civilization with no memory of how she got there.
Chopra Jonas plays the woman, whose only chance at survival is to trust a charming stranger who may not be who he says he is. Bloom plays that stranger in a story written by Jordan Rawlins that folds survival, romance, suspense and deceit into one track.
The project is being launched by Fortitude International at the Marché du Film in Cannes, where it will also be financed and introduced to international buyers. Verve Ventures, UTA and WME Independent are co-repping North American rights, putting the film into motion on both sides of the market before cameras roll later this summer.
Smukler said he was looking for a pairing where attraction and mistrust could exist side by side, and said Chopra Jonas and Bloom have the rare ability to make both feel true at once. Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber, who are producing through Fratricidal Films, called the script a gripping mix of survival, romance, suspense and deceit, and said they were thrilled to bring it to the screen with the two stars.
Producer credits also go to Michael Lazarovitch for Chemically Altered, Matthew Rhodes through Rhodes Entertainment, Chopra Jonas through Purple Pebble Pictures and Bloom through Amazing Owl, with Nadine de Barros executive producing. The casting fits where both actors have been working lately: Chopra Jonas recently led and produced The Bluff, which debuted at No. 1 on Prime Video worldwide, while Bloom drew strong notices for The Cut. Reset gives both a high-concept thriller anchored not just by danger, but by whether either character can be trusted at all.
